City Spotlight: Sarasota Jungle Gardens

Established in the 1930s, Sarasota Jungle Gardens is a long-standing favorite attraction amongst Sarasota locals and tourists alike. Sarasota Jungle Gardens is home to hundreds of exotic birds, reptiles, primates, and small mammals – and most notably, pink flamingos. These long-legged, colorful birds aren’t on the front page of most of Jungle Gardens’ publications for nothing! Visitors love interacting with and feeding the attraction’s friendly flamingos, and the birds seem to love it just as much.

After receiving a proper greeting from the Gardens’ flamingo populations, guests will stroll into a 10-acre wonderland, overflowing with exotic wildlife. Alligators are a given – but the Gardens also showcases crocodiles, giant tortoises, snakes, and numerous other reptiles. If “cute and furry” is more your vibe, be sure to visit the park’s petting zoo… and then check out the lemurs,  coati mundi, and muntjac deer. Parrots and various birds of prey offer memorable interactions and experiences for visitors. Guests are awe-inspired daily during the renowned “Jungle Bird Show”, where exotic birds showcase talents such as roller-skating, bicycling, and more.  And while it’s hard not to become immersed in visiting with the animals and exploring all of the educational opportunities that Sarasota Jungle Gardens has to offer, visitors will want to take a moment to enjoy the surrounding flora. Palms, ferns, tropical flowers, and trees from around the world bring the jungle to life in this southwest Florida attraction.

To plan your visit to Sarasota Jungle Gardens, go to the Visitor Information page on Sarasota Jungle Gardens’ website. The attraction is open daily from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm (excluding Thanksgiving and Christmas).
